Should you migrate to Drupal 11 or move off Drupal?

Not every Drupal 7 site should become a Drupal 11 site. If your content model is genuinely simple, a small team wants to self manage, and there are no multilingual or permission complexities, WordPress is often the better destination and we will say so before you sign anything.

Stay on Drupal when you have structured, related content at scale, granular editorial permissions, multilingual requirements, or accessibility and security obligations written into contracts.

Is Drupal 7 still supported?

No. Drupal 7 reached community end of life on January 5, 2025. There are no further community security releases, so any remaining Drupal 7 site accumulates unpatched vulnerability risk.

Should we migrate to Drupal 10 or Drupal 11?

Drupal 11 for almost every new migration. Drupal 11 released in August 2024, and migrating to Drupal 10 today means planning another upgrade sooner. The exception is a hard dependency on a contrib module without a Drupal 11 release.

Will we lose SEO rankings in the migration?

Not if the URL map and redirects are built before the code. We inventory every URL, map old to new, test redirect coverage on staging, reindex search, and monitor Search Console for four weeks after launch.

How long does a Drupal 7 migration take?
